Alvin John

My work is rooted by Dine' traditional philosophy and the natural creations stories I grew up with. I collaborate with metal sculptor to bring my imagery into three dimensional form using cor-teen steel, stainless steel, copper, and exotic woods- materials that reflect the land and elements central to teachings. I work in acrylic and oil paint on gallery wrapped canvas, using earth-tones, abstract forms, and portrait imagery inspired by our lifestyle and stories. Everything I create honors the teachings of balance, beauty, and respect for the natural world.
