cottonwood root. tools ; band saw, belt sander, large and small handheld grinders to block out and shape figures. Next; various lengths and shapes of straight knives and palm gouges to carve details. Finishing; sandpaper, wood burner, wood sealer, acrylic paint. Generally most carvings are one more figures of pueblo clowns and animals etc. involved in a humorous scene, carved from a single piece of root.
