The artist creates raised bead embroidery adornments in various sizes and forms utilizing a variety of materials including: 1) primarily size 13 true and charlotte cut glass beads 2) size 11 and 15 glass beads 3) glass bugle beads 4) bicone glass beads 5) Swarovski crystals 6) fire polish crystals 7) fresh water pearls 8) commercially processed moose hide 9) personally dyed and treated horse hair 10) personally custom cut and polished dentalium 11) cotton velveteen and 12) antique French, silk velvet. All adornments are embroidered by reverse engineering antique and contemporary Haudenosaunee raised methods such as “crowding” or creating a “relief base” of beads /sewn in cotton. Additional dimensionality is created by embroidering individual elements into the main component, such as petals, to bend and curve independent of each other for a 3d effect. Stringing of pearls/ dentalium are also employed in additional to a sewing machine.
