Aiy yu kwee (Hello),I handmake my glass artwork by cutting large sheets of glass into different sizes that I melt together using a kiln in a process called fusing glass. The top layer of the raw glass has a powdered glass medium that I mix and apply by hand. These powdered glass designs are based on my Yurok heritage basket designs along with original ones that I've created. This powdered glass design layer is placed into the kiln, along with other glass layers and pieces and are fused together at around 1450 F. Once my glass is fused into a solid flat piece of glass, I then shape it in the kiln as a second step in a process called slumping.
