I make my traditional pottery using our traditional clay that I have to hand gather. I go and get the clay South-west of our mesa which the clay is in bedded inside the sand stone. I then take the clay home to soak in buckets for few weeks. After its done soaking I then lay the clay out to dry for another few days. When this process is all done I hand grind the clay and then mix the clay into mud form, so I can start the process into making pottery. My other materials are also using gourds for shaping out the pottery. All my traditional paint pigments are different sands and clays gathered around the state or New Mexico. I am up to about 10 different colors. All my designs have different symbolic meanings to the pottery when they are being painted.
