Mainly I use traditional methods and materials. I hand coil clay that I hand dig from our Caddo Homelands area. I then burnish the piece by hand with a small rock and the pieces are then pitfired the old way in an open ground wood fire. I then engrave them by hand after they are fired, the way the Caddos have always done. I am the only Caddo that is carrying on our traditional pottery methods. I have also adopted the use of the Indigenous Futurism movement to start making more sculptural statement and interpretive pieces to reach a larger audience and teach more people about our cultural identity. For these works sometimes I use modern materials like store bought clay and kiln firing. So I use both old and new methods.
