I am a traditional potter from the Pueblo of Acoma, I create unique pieces of pottery using clay that I self collect from several different locations on the reservation. I then hand grind the clay to powder form and add ground up pottery shards as temper, IA learned this method from my grandmother. I then hand coil my pieces and shape with pieces of gourd. I use traditional and commercial paint and fire outside and in a kiln, my pieces are used as display pieces for my other fine art pieces.I paint with the traditional Yucca brush.
