Dee Setalla

I am a traditional Hopi potter. Natural earth clay, gourd shards, sand stones, smooth riverbed rocks, yucca plant (brush), black bee weed plant, Santo Domingo red clay, yellow iron rock (marron), dried sheep dung for fuel. Techniques: Hand built with coils, shaped with gourd shards, sanded with sandstone rocks, burnished with smooth riverbed rocks, designs painted on with yucca stem fiber using the different natural colors, fired outdoors with sheep dung at a temperature of 1900 degrees
