Portfolio Example & Artist Statement
Dennis Esquivel

I use many types of materials in my work including hardwoods and exotic hardwoods such as maple, walnut, cherry, holly, ebony, mahogany, bubinga, and wenge. I also incorporate other mediums including stainless steel, silver, brass, paint, and dyes. I use commercial hard wood veneer as well as bandsaw veneer I produce myself. Techniques I use include marquetry (inlaid woods), mortise and tenon joinery, tongue and groove, dove tail, half-lap, and dado joinery. I use a variety of machines to produce my own true, straight, and square woods for a finely finished piece furniture.
