Gaylan Westika

The work medium that I make is traditional Zuni pottery. The techniques that I use is the coil method that is done by making coils to manipulate the clay to form the shapes. Once a piece is finished I fire depending on weather I outside fire or fire inside.The materials that I use is natural clay and pigments no additives are added. The imagery that I paint on my pottery are all traditional but done In a contemporary style that I make my own. Most of what you would see connects with some aspects of my cultural up bringing from the representation of rain to the dragonflies that act as our messengers that take our prayers.
