I create traditional Navajo rugs using an upright loom, a method passed down through generations. The foundation of my work is brown sheep yarn, composed of 85% wool and 15% mohair, providing a rich texture. I hand-dye my yarn using both natural dyes, such as indigo, cochineal, and wild tea, as well as acid dyes for more vibrant colors. When needed, I also incorporate commercially dyed yarn. Each piece is woven with attention to detail, honoring traditional techniques while incorporating my personal touch in color and design.
