Janae Grass

My work mostly consists of beaded objects and jewelry, as well as sterling silver jewelry. For my beaded works, I only bead on brain tanned hides, either moose or deer. I prefer to use vintage and antique beads, especially for smaller beaded pieces I tend to use micro beads. I prefer the use of two needle appliqué stitch but I am familiar with lane stitch, loom beadwork, and bias weaving. For my silver jewelry, I saw and hand forge pieces and make my own findings such as ear wires and soldered jump rings. I only use sterling silver or .999 silver. For my larger beaded pieces, I like to incorporate mixed materials like lambskin, recycled leather clothing, metal, and ribbon. I utilize leather working techniques of sewing so these pieces are all constructed by hand unless otherwise stated.
