My paintings and drawings are heavily inspired by my Navajo culture and identity. Much of the subject matter in my art are of Navajo women and men in traditional attire. Concepts for my works are drawn from the rich well of traditional knowledge from my family, especially my grand-parents, as well as researching from a range of printed historical material. The creative process starts from my mind’s kaleidoscope full of scenes from Navajo life: men and women riding horses, rituals that are both festive and ceremonial, and the landscape that is uniquely Dinetah (Navajo land). These internal displays inspire an immediate performance put together by hand with acrylics and oils.
