I produce acrylic paintings on gallery-styled stretched canvas. My works often intersect ecological and cultural themes, drawing heavily on my views and upbringing as an Indigenous person and having an intimate relationship with the land and seasons. I also use my art to portray the memories and practices of my life in the north from a different perspective, in hopes of uplifting people in my community and offering a new interpretation of what it means to be Indigenous in this day and age. These images are influenced by my upbringing with my mother and grandmother, two well-known Inuit crafters and seamstresses. My latest series of works feature lichens that I've found through the Arctic and subarctic, paying homage to my background in biology and memories of being on the land.
