My traditional name is One Voice Woman. I have been a glass artist for over 20 years. When I first started, there weren’t any Indigenous patterns to work from. My inspiration came from going to markets and tradeshows and seeing Indigenous art but never anything in my medium and thinking I can do this in glass! I started creating my own patterns and then continued to develop my own unique and one-of-a-kind designs. A lot of my designs come from my everyday experiences and teachings as an Anishinaabe Kwe (Ojibway Woman) growing up in Manitoba. I also love learning about other Indigenous cultures and reflecting our shared history in glass. Many of my custom pieces bring in the personal story and connection of the individual and community they are from. I work with COE 96 and 90. I cut, grind, and layers my glass, then it is fired multiple times in my kiln. I use high temperature wire for pieces to be hung and love creating embellishments to enhance my artistic creations.
