My art explores the rich tapestry of Navajo culture, focusing specifically on the visual representation of the tradition. I utilize the natural beauty of wood, particularly cottonwood, as a foundation for these depictions. The wood becomes an integral part of the artwork, its grain and texture often informing the composition and adding a layer of organic depth. I combine this natural element with the vibrant colors and precise detail of acrylic painting. Furthermore, I incorporate textured materials to enhance the tactile experience and create a multi-sensory engagement with the work. I strive to honor and illuminate the sacred imagery and cultural narratives associated through this combination of wood, paint, and texture.
