Myron Denetclaw

Hello, my name is Myron Denetclaw, I'm a 2-D visual artist working with a traditional painting technique called the "Old Santa Fe Indian School Style" of painting. The style came about in the 1920s-1930s as at the time was contemporary painting for indigenous students housed at the Indian school first taught by Dorothy Dunn, (pioneer art instructor). I use a water-soluble medium called casein and gouache that obtain the quality soft pastel color pallet which resonates the native southwest environment. Scenes of traditional home life and ceremonial activity are my keen subject matter to help preserve the Navajo philosophy, language, and holistic life.
