I am an artist from the Ramah-Navajo Reservation. As a child I grew up in an environment riddled with domestic abuse and alcoholism causing me to lose many memories of my formative years. Today, I use that experience to fuel my work while the work itself helps me navigate my place and meaning in the world. My paintings combine self-reflection, landscape, history and environment through abstraction and realism while invoking an aesthetic light-hearted and hopeful tone through color palette and composition. Each painting depicts real people and scenes across the Navajo Nation documented through photography, sketching, and personal experience prior to being painted. Each work is skillfully painted with acrylic paint on canvas and often features gold colored accents to add dimension. Every painting is one-of-a-kind. I do not make prints or replicas of any painting to protect its uniqueness and rarity and to contribute to the notion that "memories" themselves cannot be replicated.
