Painting:I use acrylic paints as a first preference (with synthetic brushes) with a variety of mixed mediums on canvas, paper, wood panel and/or mixture of all. Depending on the painting techniques the results can vary from project to project and for me there are some advantage to using acrylic as it reacts to glazing/overlays, washes, impasto, underpainting, blending and the relatively fast drying time. One of the ways I’ve created texture on canvas is by using a large oversized comb to drag through and across the thickness of paint. The text left behind creates line and ridges to paint on top of. In addition to the finished paintings I use found objects usually in the form of Wooden nickel tokens, Indian head nickel or Buffalo head nickel, and/or casino chips tokens.Mono Silk-Screen:The mono silk-screen process is a specialized process where the artist uses water-based paints to apply an image directly onto an open silkscreen. There are no pre-set designs or images in my pieces.
