I am a traditional Mountain Maidu basket weaver from Susanville California. Per my tribal traditions, I use mediums of both twining and coiling, and all of my baskets are made in accordance with tribal protocol. Further, all of my materials that I used are traditional to my people and are gathered and processed per tribal protocol. In coiling, willow is the foundation rods, and the weft material is big leaf maple and redbud. For twining, willow is the foundation, beargrass, roots, and redbud bark are the weft material. I plan to show my coiled work at this show.
