In order to tell our stories, I say my prayers and offer tobacco. The dreams and guidance from my Ancestors help me to develop my Contemporary Ledger Quilts. Learning how to sew from my mother, who was at a Boarding School. Using the best cotton fabric, thread and batting that I can purchase. I like to look for calico to represent the old style dresses that my Grandmothers would wear.I use cotton fabric and ribbons to make ribbon skirts.Cotton fabric, thread and batting. Cutting, pinning, either hand or machine sewing and a lot of math. Using beads, buttons, leather and wool to add dimension to my quilts. Fabric gel ink to write the stories.
