Portfolio Example & Artist Statement
Cordell Naseyoma

My Kachina carvings are Traditional Old-style carvings. The materials I utilized are Cottonwood root and natural pigments from rocks I collect from the earth to use for painting. I crush up the rocks to make the colors of white, red, black, blue and yellow. I only use Horseshoe files, no knives, to carve and shape my dolls. I use commercial duck feathers that I buy at art supply stores.
